This is when this year's Roman Festival will take place. Though other events and talks are planned in the week running up.
As for 2009, it was hailed a great success, with many people travelling from afar to come and visit us.
The kids' shield making competition was won in all three catogries which were sponsored by; under 5s, Creepy crawlies, 6-10s, Sea life centre and 11-15, York Dungeon. All the winners received a family ticket to each.
The Gladius sword was won by Samuel Smith aged 12, who was holidaying with his family from Nottinghamshire.
The treasure hunt was won by Mr D Connor from York. Thanks to City Screen for their support.
Honoured for their services to the festival were the 7th legion also known as Roma Antiqua. They have been a tremendous support and strength from the very beginning 7 years ago. We are very grateful for their friendship.
We would also like to express our thanks to the many people who came, supported and helped to make this years event a great success, especially Nordmannii, who were at the festival for the first time and provided our Celt element. We look forward to seeing them again next year,
Thanks also to the civic party who came and visited us, helping to present the 7th Legion's award, judge the shield competition and speak to some of the re-enactors and craftspeople within the camp.
